Reflecting

Across the water I look and I see the sun reflecting upon the water. It is so beautiful, so refreshing, and rushes in calmness amongst my soul. I look deep within myself and wonder what it is that I am reflecting back to the world. Do they see you? Do they see kindness? Can they see my joy? What is it that everyone sees when they look at me? Maybe they judge me because they know that I love you. Could it be that they can’t see any of you when they look at me?

I wonder how I am reflecting myself to the world. I look back upon how it is that I came to know you. Since I did not grow up going to church or knowing much about you, I often had to look to others to see you. I got to know you through how others reflected you. In some I saw peace, joy, kindness, and compassion. That is what stood out to me the most. Unfortunately though, there are many who don’t reflect that. They curse your name or will make a fool out of someone who doesn’t believe. That is so harsh. I wish that wasn’t the case. They even will do things that contradict their faith. What they are reflecting back for the world to see isn’t you.

I have seen that those that don’t know you and only see the not so joyous moments of another will wonder how it can be that these people say they believe in you, but yet showcase something so far different than what your love is all about. For those that see that through others, it will cause them to doubt you, to doubt those that believe, and to really wonder if you are real.

So I ask all, how are you reflecting your love of Him today? Are you showing your best for the world to see? Are you always pouring out His love for the world to see? People are watching you. Even when it might not seem that they are, trust me, they are. Those who don’t believe will see everything that you do. They will wonder if it is true. They can’t comprehend that you say you are Christian but yet cut someone off in traffic. It is important to always reflect Him in everything you do. For me, it helped guide me to Him. I saw that joy, grace, compassion, and kindness in others my age when I was a teenager. I chose to run to it. He gave me so much more than what I ever have deserved. Please be kind to everyone and choose to reflect His love back onto others. It could change the course of their live forever.

Wishing you all a very happy new year. Here is to a great 2019!
